Suhasini Rajaram Naidu (born 12 October 1981), known mononymously as Sneha, is an Indian film actress, who has acted in mostly Tamil and Telugu as well as a few Malayalam and Kannada language films. She debuted in the 2001 Malayalam film Ingane Oru Nilapakshi, directed by Anil and had her first commercial success with Aanandham (2001). She became one of Tamil cinema's contemporary lead actresses in the 2000s, following appearances in several commercially successfully films.


She has won two Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress, for her performances in Unnai Ninaithu (2002) and Autograph (2004) and has been nominated three times for a Filmfare Best Actress Award. She has also received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress twice, in 2001 for her performances in the films Virumbugiren, Aanandham, Punnagai Desam and later for Pirivom Santhippom (2008). She also received a Nandi Award for her Telugu film Radha Gopalam (2005), as well as the Kalaimamani award in 2004. She is considered as one of the most versatile actresses.Sneha is the daughter of Rajaram Naidu and Padmavathy, a Telugu family of Panruti, Tamilnadu. She grew up in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where she completed her schooling. The family then settled in Panruti, Tamil Nadu and she grew up speaking Tamil. She has three older siblings. She is fluent in her mother tongue Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi & Arabic.






Sneha began her film career in the 2001 Malayalam film Ingane Oru Nilapakshi in a supporting role. Her breakthrough came later that year in a Tamil language film, Ennavale opposite Madhavan. Later that year, she starred in the film, Aanandham and in K. Balachandar's, Parthale Paravasam. She finished the year with a foray into Telugu cinema, with an appearance in Priyamaina Neeku.


A total of eight films were released in 2002, including her second major hit in the Telugu Hanuman Junction. Other films that year included the Tamil language films Unnai Ninaithu and April Madhathil. Subsequently she acted in lead role in King and a supporting role in Pammal K. Sambandam with Vikram and Abbas, respectively.


Sneha acted in two films in 2003, Vaseegara with Vijay and a heroine-oriented double role in Parthiban Kanavu while the former was a failure and later was a huge success.


2004 was a mixed year for the actress, with Jana, Bose and Adhu all failing at the box-office. However, Vasool Raja MBBS opposite Kamal Haasan and Autograph and the Telugu film Venky were huge successes.


The years 2005 and 2006 saw her acting in Telugu films such as Sankranthi with Venkatesh, Radha Gopalam with Srikanth, Sri Ramadasu with Nagarjuna, and Thuruppu Gulan with Mammootty and Pudhupettai with Dhanush winning plaudits at box office, while others released in the respective years turning as average grossers at the box office. With Thuruppu Gulan she paired with the Malayalam mega Star Mammootty. In the year 2006, she made her debut into Kannada film industry through Ravi Shastri. With that she covered all the South Indian languages.


The year 2007 was good for the actress. She had Naan Avanillai a super hit and first hit since 2004, while her Telugu films Madhumasamand Maharadhi and tamil film Pallikoodam turned out to be failures at box office.


In the year 2008, Sneha won many plaudits for her performance in Pirivom Santhippom with Cheran, her last hit in tamil. She paired with Silambarasan in Silambattam which gave her another commercial failure. Her Cameo appearance in the film Kuselan with Rajinikanth marked her 50th film in her career. She tried highly glamorous roles with Pandi and Inba, while both turning out to be average grossers. Her Telugu films Nee Sukhame Ne Korukunna and Pandurangadu turned out to be average grossers while Adivishnu flopped at the box office.


2009 was totally different for the actress with the Social thriller film Achchamundu Achchamundu with Hollywood actor John Shea appearing in a villainous role with Prasanna as her pair. Then she had Amaravathi, again a Thriller film of different Genre. Both won many plaudits for the bold theme of Pedophiles and Womb stealing, respectively. The former film won many awards in the International Panorama and the later grossed average at box office.


In 2010, with Venkat Prabhu's Goa, she again forayed into a glamorous ultra-modern chick role with a few shades of grey. Then she shared her screen space for the first time with Vishal through a cameo appearance in the movie Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai. Her next release was Pramani with Mammootty. She appeared in a cameo role as herself in the movie Angadi Theru, directed by Vasanthabalan, which opened to stupendous reviews and response which turned to be a success. She also paired up with the Mohanlal for the first time for the movie Shikkar, The Hunt, which was released on the eve of Ramadan and was a huge success and it is considered as a milestone in Mohanlal's history. Her another film with Mammootty, Vande Mataram where she played an aviator released to mixed reviews of critics and bombed at the box-office.


In 2011, her most awaited Bhavani IPS was released, where she appeared as a tough Police Officer. The movie opened to mixed reviews praising Sneha for her performance. She has Vidiyal, where she appears as a Muslim girl for the first time and also alongside actor R. Sarath Kumar, slated for a mid 2011 release. She also has Ponnar Shankar penned by M. Karunanidhi, which is being made in a big budget of 40 Crores, Nootrukku Nooru alongside Vinay Rai and Murattu Kaalai with Sundar C awaits release.


Modeling


She has appeared in so many commercials like Saravana Stores, Roobini Oil, Aashirvadh, Idhayam Dots, Jos Aalukkas, Power Shampoos, Shree Devi Textiles, Preethi Mixi, GRB Udhayam Ghee, Papilon etc. In 2010, she was announced the brand ambassador for Dabur Amla Nelli Hair Oil and Cavin Kare's Chinni's Pickle. She owns a Marriage Hall in Panruti.


She also appeared in Fashion Shows like Chennai International Fashion Week and Sydney Sladen Fashion Week.

sneha who is not talked much these days has come with a bang after a gossip on the actress appeared in a section of the leading tamil magazine stating the actress was preganant, persons responsible: Chennai 600028 team. Fuming Sneha has vented out her anger in an interview to 'Kumudham', regarding the news on her by the number one newspaper. Here's the extract from the magazine


"While commenting about the films I have acted, they write one liner that reads Sneha has acted well. when it comes to a gossip about me they have tons to write. I don't know why such a disparity. Of late the gossips about me are spread with an evil intension of hurting me. This time the made up gossip was really worse. I am not going to be patient anymore. If anyone tries to slander me with their writings I would no more take things easy,” the ‘smiling beauty says and adds: “I would sure take legal action if this trend continues. I am open to criticism, but not to such cheap acts which agonises me a lot.”


I have a self respect too. You can’t write anything that comes in to your mind just because I am actress.Actresses are not sex workers.I bet actresses are not of that kind. We work in a similar manner as teacher or a doctor. It is not fair to write gossips on them just because they are into acting profession. We too have a family and those spreading rumours should understand the pain we undergo thanks to their acts,” she says.


Changing the topic, the actress says, “This is my 10th year in cinema. I am currently doing a crucial role in Prashanth starrer ‘Ponnan Sankar’ which has dialogues by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Besides, I am playing the lead role in ‘Bhavani IPS’ and Sarath Kumar’s Vidiyal
